CenturyLink joins the Fortune 500 club

1. CenturyLink, a creation of the former CenturyTel and EMBARQ, has gained new prominence by securing a spot on Fortune 500's largest U.S. companies list. What drove CenturyLink to the No. 423 spot on the Fortune 500 list was its acquisition of EMBARQ, which tripled the ILEC's size. Prior to the acquisition, CenturyLink was No. 753. Although CenturyLink's CEO Glen Post was not available for comment late last week, Louisiana Gov.
