Getting Carrier Ethernet Synced for Mobile Backhaul

The term "synchronous" is now popping up whenever people talk of mobile backhaul (though that's not the only application), because without synchronization, Carrier Ethernet, which is inherently asynchronous, would have no role in the red-hot mobile backhaul market. Moreover, proper synchronization is essential for mobile networks. Without it, you'd have dropped calls, slow handover between base stations, clipped speech, inter-node interference, and lack of interoperability between different mobile networks (e.g. 2G, 3G, 4G).
