Report: Small cell shipments to hit 5M annually by 2017

   Rising data traffic and the need for carriers to deploy heterogeneous network architecture to handle all of that traffic will lead to 5 million annual shipments of small cells by 2017, according to a new report from research firm ARCchart. The report, which looks at the wider mobile data traffic market, also forecasts that in 2017 there will be 1.4 million macrocell shipments.
