      It's official: Appalachia's Internet needs a speedup

      Data presented during a meeting at Ohio University last week showed Appalachian Ohio a full 10 percent below the state average when it comes to access to high-speed broadband Internet.  Frontier Communications' 2012 expansion plans include, according to a release, 24 new broadband deployments, multiple metro Ethernet site launches, and the continued use of loop extender technology, which has already provided service to an additional 10,000 households with the deployment of 500 loop extenders statewide.
