Overture enhances European and APAC sales teams with four new regional offices

Overture's appointment of new sales leads to oversee four key EMEA-APAC regions--including India, Italy, Malaysia and Russia--instantly gives the vendor locally-based support to serve new growth opportunities outside of North America, the company said Tuesday. The naming of these new sales managers follows similar moves to bolster its sales efforts in both Canada and the Caribbean and the Latin American markets. Its international expansion is in-line with the goals the company set when it launched its rebranding initiative in February, following its acquisition of Hatteras Networks. Last Week's Ethernet Europe Event

The who’s who of Carrier Ethernet Europe gathered last week in Munich for the annual Light Reading Ethernet Europe.  Collocated with the MEF’s quarterly members’ meeting, this year’s event lived up to its billing as the premier Carrier Ethernet event in EMEA.

My schedule only allowed for a couple of brief visits into town which naturally included the requisite visit to the legendary Hofbrauhaus, for a few um-pa-pa’s, a very large stein of beer and some rockin’ pretzels.

But the real highlight of the week was Carrier Ethernet.  In this post, I’ll recap a few ...

Alpheus Leveraging a mix of copper, fiber and Ethernet-based services, Alpheus has become a viable alternative wholesale provider to wireline and wireless operators in the Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston (aka DASH) markets. Over its copper and fiber network infrastructure, the service provider can offer an entire suite of products, including Ethernet services, Internet, dark fiber and managed wavelength services at speeds that can scale from DS-1 to OC-192. In particular, the service provider has seen its greatest demand from wireless operators expanding their 4G/LTE buildouts that are increasingly migrating from SONET-based services to Ethernet.

      Clouds Gather Over Ethernet Europe

There's no sunshine in Munich this week, but that's OK with Ethernet Europe folks, who are mostly interested in clouds anyway.  Ethernet's role in enabling new cloud services ecosystems is a major feature of the first day of the annual event, which moved this year to Munich, in advance of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) meeting later this week. Four separate service provider keynotes and two panels will address the potential of cloud services but also the challenges in creating an on-demand network infrastructure to enable this next generation of services.
