With the former Ethernet over Copper (EoC) vendor Hatteras now firmly in its pocket, Overture Networks is polishing up its brand. As part of the rebranding initiative, the Carrier Ethernet vendor has revealed an updated company logo, in addition to a new value proposition, simplified product naming and a new blog.

As AT&T’s recent changes to its wireless data plans illustrate, the demand for mobile data is booming—and as recent research from ATLANTIC-ACM reveals, that booming demand is great news for service providers that offer Carrier Ethernet connectivity to mobile operators on a wholesale basis.  

Equinix (Nasdaq: EQIX) and Neutral Tandem's (Nasdaq: TNDM) new partnership to provide a single point of contact for Ethernet services reflects the service provider's move to extend their service reach for large multisite customers that want one provider to handle their services.

Equinix continues to enhance its offerings for carrier Ethernet services. Today it announced a partnership with Neutral Tandem, another emerging player in the carrier Ethernet ecosystem, that will make it easier for Equinix customers to expand into additional markets.

The Ethernet Exchange business is continuing to evolve rapidly. Two years ago, four geographically expansive Ethernet exchange businesses emerged: CENX, the independent; Equinix, the carrier-neutral colo giant; Telx, the IP interconnection specialist, and Neutral Tandem, branching out from voice. But the pure exchange model has been difficult to monetize, and each effort has been looking for the right angle.

Integra Telecom Inc. recently inked an Network to Network Interface (NNI) agreement with Arizona’s Saddleback Communications that expands each company’s footprint and extends Carrier Ethernet services to the premises of large enterprise customers to greater Phoenix/Scottsdale/Mesa.
