Carrier Ethernet is more flexible. Service providers typically install lines into customer premises that can deliver as much as 10Gbps of bandwidth, but generally, customers provision far less. But later, upgrades are easy to do, for all that's needed is a reconfiguring of network equipment. And this takes only a few days, at most, versus the weeks often required to modify a TDM-based network.
